Waldorf Astoria

A simple menu card with no folds, made to be minimal and elegant. The front face containing the menu items, and the back of the card has the art deco pattern and Waldorf Astoria’s logo in the centre of the card. Printed with a thicker uncoated beige paper; around 280+gsm so it can have a premium feel and withstand the daily use.
The typeface used is also Gills Sans MT a typeface made in the 1920s, the pattern used is a pattern inspired by the art deco movement.
A simple cardholder without the flaps, so it can securely hold the card without the risk of it falling out. The paper used is around 120 to 170 gsm, the colour of the paper is beige, uncoated. On the front, the hotel logo printed is printed with gold ink. On the back, there is a space for the name and room number to be written down, and the address of the hotel and mobile number in case the guest needed to reach the hotel again. On the inside of the holder is the art deco pattern printed with gold ink, a subtle detail that would be discovered when the card is being put in or taken out.
Colour of the card is darker than the cardholder, with the art deco pattern printed with a clear gloss for subtle detail to tie it back to the art deco theme.
The Waldorf Astoria printed solely on the front with a small triangle to indicate where the card should be placed. The back of the card containing small instructions, and the website of the hotel, as well as the small triangle for indication. The type used is Gills Sans MT, the same font used throughout.
Instead of the typical rectangular shaped door hanger, the door hanger is made combining three circles inspired by the geometric shapes used in the art deco period. The paper to be used is around 120 to 170 gsm, uncoated.
It would be printed back to back, instead of having it on two separate papers; for convenience of the people, as well as reducing the number of papers being used. The colour theme of the door hanger is similar to the other items, featuring colours such as green and beige.
The first circle is filled with a pattern also inspired by the art deco movement, which would be printed in gold ink. The second circle contains a minimal ring to be printed with gold ink and a call for action , either “DO NOT DISTURB” or “PLEASE CLEAN MY ROOM”. The final circle is a solid fill, which holds the logo of the hotel Waldorf Astoria.
